Chocolaty smoothie with carob powder πŸ«

Today is Easter and it’s all about chocolate, so i’m sharing with you one of my favorite smoothie recipes! πŸ’•

1111

I used to be a huge fan of chocolate, i used to feel like i had to eat some everyday to be able to keep going. Now that i am raw i never eat it even though raw chocolate exists and it’s very tasty, but i prefer the natural sweetness of fruit since i find it much more satisfying, while chocolate leaves me thirsty and it can give me pimples (no one likes pimples!). Fortunately, Nature never fails us and always has our backs by offering us a much better option that requires far less processing. I’m talking about carob!

Carob is an evergreen flowering shrub or tree belonging to the pea family. Its fruits are dark brown pods that carry seeds and pulp. In this recipe i’ve used the powder obtained from the dried and ground pods. It’s naturally sweet and with a unique taste similar to cocoa, which makes it a great and healthier substitute for chocolate!

Carob is:

  • Caffeine free
  • Fat free
  • Gluten free
  • Rich in vitamin A, B2, B3, B6
  • Rich in minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc
  • High in fiber
  • Rich in antioxidants
  • Great for digestion
  • Safe for dogs and cats πŸΆπŸ±

This smoothie is super simple but also super tasty, healthy, and nutritious! βœ¨ It requires only 3 ingredients:

  • Bananas
  • Apples
  • Carob powder

I used approximately 5 bananas, 3 apples, 3 tbsp of carob powder and i topped it with some shredded coconut, pistachio crumble, hemp seeds, a banana, and some strawberries. πŸŒπŸ“

Smoothies are my favorite lunch β€“ right after a delicious mono meal –  because they’re quick and easy to make but they also encourage my creativity and i really have fun decorating them with toppings. When i sit down to finally eat them i am pervaded by a deep feeling of satisfaction and thankfulness. Enjoying my meals is like a form of meditation to me, sitting down (usually on the ground with my dog by my side, and if possibly sunbathing in the meantime), quietly, eating slowly, enjoying every spoonful, exploring textures and flavors… it’s like stopping time to take care of myself and to think about how great life can be. Eating becomes a way to elevate myself from the material world rather than the contrary.

Easter is a day of rebirth and awakening, so be conscious, be present and be always grateful for what you have, because everything you go through is an instrument placed by the Universe to make you grow and evolve as a spiritual being.

Happy Rebirth to everyone! πŸ’˜πŸ‘Ό Let’s focus our thoughts on a world of unconditional Love!

P.S. I’ve prepared some pretty awesome stuff for today’s lunch, so stay tuned because i’ll post that later! 🐣
