Super rich & dark green smoothie 💚

If you want an energizing, nutritious, tasty, delicious, and healthy meal then this is the smoothie recipe you need! This is a perfect way to include more greens into your diet without having to chew on a big bowl of salad. Leafy greens are incredibly important because they’re rich in chlorophyll, minerals, vitamins, fibers that help digestion and weight loss, they help lower cholesterol, blood pressure, blood-sugar swings. As if that wasn’t enough they will also give you a beautiful clear skin, shiny and strong hair, and they’ll also make you feel happier! Even though they’re all these amazing things, lots of people struggle with consuming enough greens. Personally, i prefer eating fruit and sweet, juicy food in general, so that’s why i often prepare flavorsome green smoothie that have all the benefits of greens and all the sweetness of fruit! It’s basically a win win situation.

So these are the ingredients you need to prepare this smoothie:

  • blueberries
  • baby spinach
  • bananas
  • apples (optional)
  • spirulina powder
  • 1 tsp of ground ginger

All you need to do is to throw all these ingredients in the blender and blend them up! Pour your smoothie in a bowl and you can eat it like that or top it with whatever you like best. Here i used a banana, blueberries, shredded coconut, hemp seeds, raisins, and pistachio crumble.

Words can’t describe how tasty, fragrant, sweet, and creamy this was! You could really taste the richness in flavor and nutrients. It was simply perfect! 🌱💚

In this smoothie i included spirulina, which is a wonderful blue- green algae with tons of benefits, and that’s why it is know as a superfood. It’s rich in proteins, vitamins A, K, B, beta-carotene, antioxidants, iron, manganese, chromium. Some of its benefits are:

  • Detoxing heavy metals
  • Eliminating candida infections by promoting the growth of healthy bacterial flora in the intestines
  • Strengthening your immune system
  • Helping prevent cancer by supporting cellular health
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Boosting energy
  • Helping weight loss

In this recipe i used baby spinach because i find that they’re the greens that i digest best, but you can replace them with any leafy green of your choice. Kale would be perfect too!

Blueberries are one of the richest food in antioxidants, they help combat aging, they boost the brain, they benefit skin, digestion, heart health.

Ginger is one of the healthiest and most delicious spices on planet earth. It has powerful medicinal properties such as fighting the flu and common cold. It has wonderful anti inflammatory effects and the list goes on!

Hemp seeds have the perfect balance of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, which promote cardiovascular health, and they are a perfect protein, which means that not only do they contain all 20 amino acids, but they also contain the 9 essential amino acids that are not produced by our bodies. They’re rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, phosphorous.

Last but not least, fruit like bananas and apples may seems a bit “basic” to us, but i believe that all types of fruit are superfoods, since each piece of fruit contains all the nutrients we need in the right amount for our body. All fruit helps fighting cancer, helps digestion, and so on. One type of fruit may contain more or this rather than that, but at the end of the day they are all healthy, nutritious and fundamental for our well-being. Bananas for example are a great source of B complex vitamins and vitamin C, they’re also rich in minerals like potassium, copper, and manganese. On the other hand Apples are rich in vitamin A, B, antioxidants, and they work amazingly on digestion!

I love this green smoothie because it’s sweet, rich in flavor and nutrients, and it’s super easy to make! If it’s your first time trying a green smoothie i suggest putting a smaller amount of greens at first and then you can work your way up. I didn’t put quantities in the ingredients because it really depends on how big of a smoothie you plan to eat. I usually eat them for lunch, so i used quite large quantities, since for me this was supposed to be a full meal, and i ended up with at least 1.5 liters of smoothie. That’s what works for me in order to feel satisfied, but some people may need more or less. 😊

I hope you have fun trying this recipe, let me know what you think about it!! 🌱💚
